Why there are adverts

Hoglet is free for every child, family and school. Adverts and sponsors pay for that. Because many of our players are children, our rules are stricter than the law requires, and our mission comes first: teaching that greed loses and steady, careful choices win.

Where adverts appear

• Only between rounds, at the end of a trading day, and on menus. Never while someone is playing.
• Never on the parents and teachers page, the privacy page or these policy pages.
• Never in Hoglet for Schools.
• Always clearly labelled "Advert" or "Sponsor", and never made to look like part of the game.
• No pop-ups, no sound, no videos that play by themselves, and nothing that blocks the game or hides the close button.

How adverts are chosen

• Contextual only: based on the page, never on the player. No profiling, no personalised or retargeted adverts, for anyone.
• Under-13s only see adverts from sponsors we've checked ourselves or from certified kid-safe ad partners.
• Adverts must not collect children's data, or link to anything that asks children for personal details, payments or downloads.

Adverts we never accept

• Trading, investing or "make money" apps, including CFDs, spread betting, forex, share-trading and copy-trading apps
• Crypto, NFTs and other digital "tokens"
• Gambling of any kind, including betting, lotteries, casino-style games, loot boxes and paid prize draws
• Loans, credit cards, buy-now-pay-later and payday lending
• Get-rich-quick schemes, multi-level marketing and "trading courses"
• Food and drink high in fat, sugar or salt, energy drinks and fast food
• Alcohol, tobacco, vaping and nicotine products
• Dating, weight loss, diet products and cosmetic procedures
• Games, films or other media rated 12 or above, and anything violent or scary
• Political, campaigning or religious adverts
• Apps or games built around in-app purchases aimed at children
• Anything misleading, or that pressures children to buy or to pester their parents

Adverts we welcome

• Savings accounts and money tools designed for young people, from regulated banks and building societies (shown to 13+, or as "supported by" sponsorship)
• Financial education charities and programmes
• Books, learning products, museums, family days out and other things that fit a curious, careful mind
